King's Fund conducted an enquiry into the problem of noise control in hospitals, and the results of this enquiry were published in a report in November 1958. In 1960 it was felt that some useful information might be obtained by inviting the fifteen hospitals of the initial enquiry to take part in a follow-up enquiry to find out what improvements or changes had taken place during this period. Patients were given questionnaires to indicate how much noise they thought there was.
