Abstract

This new edition of the Health Quality Service accreditation programme has been extensively revised and updated to reflect government health policy and guidance in the various parts of the United Kingdom as well as taking account of changes and developments in quality assurance and improvement programmes nationally and internationally. These latest standards address concerns around the patient's experience of care, the experience of staff working within the organisation, clinical governance, leadership and teamwork. The standards also continue to include the previous and essential elements concerning systems, processes and environment.
