Tom Evans was Director of the King's Fund College from 1981 until his death in 1985. This book is a tribute to him. The papers cover a variety of management issues: an exploration of what strategic management and strategic planning mean; management in the NHS; accountability in the public sector; and how individuals and people collectively in organisations can be helped to learn and develop. It includes papers by Tom Evans himself and by a number of people who shared his thinking on specific issues.
