Abstract
  • This pamphlet describes three aspects of primary health care which were commonly referred to in the evidence to the Royal Commission. The first gives an outline of the current position of deputising services and examines issues of debate. The appendix gives details of the location and ownership of deputising services. Prescribing in general practice gives a brief account of the organisation of the supply of pharmaceutical services, considers criticisms of general practice prescribing and suggestions for improvements. The final paper describes the system of dispensing in the NHS outside the hospital sector and discusses complaints and proposed remedies about declining numbers of chemists shops.
