Abstract
  • This is The King's Fund's response to the independent review by the Nuffield Trust commissioned by the Secretary of State for Health to consider whether aggregate ratings of provider performance should be used in health and social care. Overall, while TKF supports the government’s commitment to make more information about the quality of care and services publicly available to patients and the public, it is not clear that a nationally defined aggregate rating for every health and social care provider would be useful for any of the intended audiences.

  • This document sets out our thoughts on the Department of Health’s consultation on the draft mandate for the National Health Service Commissioning Board. The draft mandate sets out the governments priorities for the NHS and it's objectives for the NHS Commissioning Board. In our consultation response, we put forward the changes to the mandate that we believe are necessary to ensure the NHS Commissioning Board can be effectively held accountable for £80 billion of public money.
